Dr. Roger Yerry Honored

Posted on October 8, 2009

The Edge Athletics College Scholarship has been re-named in honor of the late Dr. Roger Yerry of Rhinebeck, New York.  Dr. Yerry, who passed away on January 22, 2007, was an avid supporter of Edge Athletics.  His son Adam was a member of the original Hudson Valley River Rats team that was formed in 1996 and played every year until he graduated from Rhinebeck High School.  The Yerry family experienced the growth and transition of the River Rats to the current Edge Athletics program.  “Dr. Yerry was a very close friend of Edge Athletics and helped guide our growth with his insight and encouragement,” said Jim Santoro. “He meant a lot to me not only as a parent of one of our athletes, but as physician, friend, and consultant, and I am very excited and proud to have our scholarship named in his honor” he added.

Edge Ahtletics started the scholarship in 2006 and has given the award to eight athletes.  Applications are now being accepted for 2010.  Winners will be announced in July.
