Coach Hayes is currently in his 10th year as the Director of Edge Athletics. He also has nine years of experience as a Head JV Boys Basketball Coach and Associate Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Poughkeepsie High School (September 2001 - 2006) and Our Lady of Lourdes HS (May 1997 - September 2001).

Coach Hayes has primarily coached the older age groups in Edge Athletics. Over the past four seasons, Coach Hayes’ Edge teams have won six AAU tournaments. His JV Head Coaching record the last four years is 73-3, and over his entire career his winning percentage at the high school level is over .800 and is approaching 150 wins. Included in these victories are four consecutive Skip Ransom Memorial Tournament championships, a total of three Dutchess County JV Tournament championships, and four consecutive league championships. His JV teams have been undefeated in league play the last four years.

Coach Hayes has been an elementary school teacher for the past six years in the Poughkeepsie City School District. Coach Hayes lives with his wife Erin in Poughkeepsie. They have one girl, Chloe.
