A Mother’s Day Message from Coach Santoro and the Edge Athletics Staff

At Edge Athletics, one of the things we have always believed in is that some things are simply bigger than basketball. That is why, from the very beginning, we made a commitment that we would never hold an event on Mother’s Day weekend. Not a tournament. Not a showcase. Not a camp. Period.

In today’s youth sports world, where schedules seem nonstop and weekends are constantly consumed by games, travel, and competition, it would be easy to justify squeezing in “just one more event.” But we have never believed that athletics should come at the expense of the moments that matter most.

Mother’s Day weekend belongs to family. It belongs to faith. And most importantly, it belongs to moms.

The mothers in our program give so much of themselves to their children that it is impossible to fully measure what they do. Long before a player ever steps onto a court, there is usually a mom behind the scenes making sacrifices nobody sees.

They are the early mornings and the late-night rides home. They are the packed meals, the washed uniforms, the hotel check-ins, and the endless hours spent sitting in gyms. They are the emotional support after heartbreak and disappointment, and the loudest cheers after success. They carry the stress, the worry, the hope, and the pride that comes with raising young athletes in today’s demanding world.

Many of them balance careers, family responsibilities, financial sacrifices, and everyday life — all while making sure their children have opportunities to pursue their dreams.

As coaches, we may have the privilege of impacting players during practices and games. But moms help shape who they become as people every single day.

Over the years, I have coached thousands of athletes, and one thing has always stood out to me: behind almost every successful young person is a mother who quietly gave more of herself than anyone will ever truly know.

At Edge Athletics, we want our players to understand something important. Athletics matter. Competition matters. Commitment matters. But none of it is more important than family, faith, gratitude, and appreciating the people who sacrifice for you along the way.

So this weekend, we want our athletes home with their families.
We want them spending time with their moms.
We want them saying thank you.
We want them telling you that they love you.
And we want our families to know that we recognize and appreciate everything they do.

To all of the incredible mothers in the Edge Athletics family — and to mothers everywhere — thank you for your sacrifices, your strength, your patience, your love, and your unwavering support.

Your impact reaches far beyond sports.
You help shape lives.

From all of us at Edge Athletics, we wish you a blessed, meaningful, and Happy Mother’s Day.
