Update – Springfield Tournament

5/16 8:30pm – URGENT! – Due to the “No Spectator” guidance for the Springfield tournament next weekend, and given the feedback I received from many of you, I have pulled us from the tournament. Although confident that we can enter a tournament in Albany, I am waiting for confirmation that we have been accepted. An update will be sent out as soon as I receive that confirmation!

Coach Santoro

We are being told that there are limited game sites for this tournament and it is likely that there will be a NO SPECTATOR policy for 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grade divisions (14u, 15u, 16u and 17u).  ONE spectator allowed for 5th, 6th, and 7th grade divisions (11u, 12u and 13u). Rules are different for each state although restrictions are loosening, this current guidance is still in place.  Although it could change, please plan accordingly.  We are trying to find out if the games at locations with NO SPECTATORS will be streamed.

We were told at the beginning of this AAU season that a “No Spectator” rule would likely be in place. Although this is out of our control, it is the reason that we tried to keep all of our tournaments within New York State. But if we are looking to expose our athletes to a variety of teams and skill levels, going out of state is necessary.

Also, If you have already made hotel reservations, please let me know where you are staying and I will post them for others to consider staying. I will also be posting the location of the game venues in the next day or so to help with proximity planning.

Stay tuned!
