Edge Athletics Offers January Program for All levels

As the Edge Athletics December program comes to a conclusion this week, the fait of men’s and women’s high school basketball is still not known. What is known is that youth sports programs like CYO have been cancelled and the ever hopeful January 4th start date for high school sports has come and gone. Although New York State officials have not cancelled basketball, it has indefinitely delayed the start date.

Edge Athletics will, therefore, offer another program beginning January 11. This program will run for 4 weeks and will include two days of basketball training and will be open to all ages. Training sessions for those athletes that are eligible to play school level basketball which would include Modified, Freshmen, Junior Varsity and Varsity will feature varsity level sessions to help those athletes continue to prepare for the anticipated but delayed school season. Training sessions for those younger athletes that are not eligible for school level basketball will include appropriate skill level instruction. All sessions will be held at the Poughkeepsie Day School.

Program Details:

  • 4 weeks of training, two sessions each. Each session is 90 minutes. Minimum of 8 sessions.
  • All Sessions will be conducted by Coach Jim Santoro (Edge Athletics) along with his staff.
  • Sessions each week will include skills training and structured varsity level practices.  Practice content will include what is typical for a regular varsity schedule but will limit the activities to stay within the guidelines provided by local and state officials.
  • For the younger athletes, practice content will include intense instruction with skill development appropriate for that age level.
  • In addition to the regular program, each athlete will have two “Shooting Gallery” sessions that will be scheduled on off days.
